Virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, 3D modeling, scanning and printing open new business opportunities every day. Therefore it is vital to get acquainted with these technologies during one’s studies, so as to be able to ask all the right questions when entering the job market.

More than 1,000 students have taken the Basic 3D Modeling with Blender free elective course, and that makes it the most popular elective course at Haaga-Helia UAS. The environment we use, Blender 3D, is very versatile and powerful, and since it is open source software, it will be available to the students even after they graduate.

3D printing brings the benefits of rapid prototyping. We have several FDM wire printers at the Lab, as well as one SLA resin printer for detailed work. With these tools we can churn out prototypes fast and efficiently. We also have a handheld 3D scanner, Artec EVA, and for small objects, we have a custom built photogrammetry 3D scanner. For virtual reality projects we have five pairs of Oculus Quest 2 128GB glasses, and an Apple iPad Pro LIDAR 3D scanner.

ESP32 based, Python language queue measurement system with ultrasound sensors

IoT (Internet of Things) is yet another ubiquitous topic these days.
